July launch for the LGu400 on 3UK

lgu400 picture courtesy of 3g.co.uk….thats according to the people at 3g.co.uk.  They have got a pre-production model from LG which they have been testing and have posted a review.  Their verdict

It may lack the Chocolate phone’s swoonsome body, but the U400 is a very capable music phone…It is a little bigger than the Chocolate phone but remains a compact, pocketable device. The slide action is slick when opening but stubborn to close but this should loosen after continual use, while the navigation controls are centred around a jog-wheel dial, adopted previously on the Samsung i300 handset. ” .. full review here

Having seen this phone in the office a couple of times during it’s testing window I have to say from an aesthetic point of view it does look very good, the main design feature being the Jog wheel… there have been a couple of interesting view points expressed on CNET.co.uk regarding the use of the IPOD style jog wheel.  Anyone who has an ipod will have their own opinion.

With a few online retailers already showing this phone on their websites with pricing and tariff details TBC it is safe to assume that we can expect this soon.  Although the interesting fact is that as of this morning the u400 is still missing of the official LG uk website and off three.co.uk

  1. Chris, thanks for your comment, a friend of mine got his yesterday, initial impression is good.

I would really appreciate you posting on here how you get on with it. Look forward to hearing from you again

  2. Hey~ I live in Australia, but just got the LGU400 delivered yesterday. So far so good, I gotta say the click wheel gets annoying when you need to push the blue soft keys on either side but I guess I could just be unco 😛 I’m in habit of pushing the call key instead of the right soft key.. XD
The features are pretty great, I’m addicting over the tone composer and the dj-ing feature seems fun.
it looks so damn cute, ive had heaps of compliments on the funky design of the wheel.. it’s really a great music phone..
not the best, but it’s definitely up there.
(the comment wasnt meant to be that long, but hey, i got carried away!)

  3. I just got my lgu400 delivered this afternoon and I have to say Im disappointed.. within 10 minutes of playing with it getting used to its features, I found that the speakers stopped working. Im so disappointed, it has to go back an be replaced. No happy!

has anyone else had this problem or is it just me?

  5. Got an Lgu400, every thing seems fine.
    The only lacking features are
    1. You are not able to edit the customised names of the names. Its quite confusing to see “Customised 1 Customised 2” !!
    2. Nor sure why, but the call does not seem to disconnect when i close the slide!!
Got a wireless bluetooth with this phone, and listening to music is damn good.

    Overall a good phone.
