Vodafone launch HSDPA in the UK

After posting in March that 3 have launched a datacard that is HSDPA compliant and will support the increased download speeds, Vodafone have announced that they are launching on Thursday their HSDPA datacard and that the increased download speeds will be available in Greater London, Glasgow, Greater Manchester, Sheffield and Tyneside.  Whether all of these will be available from launch or not is unclear but this is the first step forward to proper broadband type truly mobile connectivity.

Vodafone UK’s 3G broadband trials earlier this year** revealed how customers expect it to make a positive difference to their mobile working:- For example, 73% of trialists said they would prefer to use 3G broadband instead of WiFi in the future after experiencing 3G broadband. 85% said they would prefer to use 3G broadband over hotel provided broadband and 87% said they would recommend 3G broadband.
