My role involves all the processes necessary to bring a transmission requirement from concept through into operation within the ESL or 3UK transmission networks.

  • Creation of the RFQ/RFI,

Snr Project Technician – Platform Deployment(Network Implementation)

As part of a team of about 22 technicians and Engineers we were responsible for installation and commissioning of SDH, DWDM and IP Optical National and Metropolitan networks for NTL’s core network including the use of submarine cable between Ireland and the UK. My role saw me Team and project leading  

  • NTL’s IP Supercore Backbone install and commissioning using wavelengths on the Nortel OPTera DWDM system and Wavelength Transponders. 
  • Rollout of SDH ring topology networks for Vodafone and Orange mobile using ECI and NEC equipmento         
  •  Build of NTL’s core transmission network in the UK and Ireland (via submarine cable) employing Nortel, ECI, NEC, Marconi and Alcatel SDH multiplexers, Cross-Connects and DWDM systems.

Experienced in the install and commissioning of : 

  • Nortel Networks  
    • OPTera LH, OPTera OAS, TN64X, TN16X and TN4XE.o         
    • Implementation of OPTera 8-32 Channel DWDM systems.

Worked as a senior instructor to train junior engineers/subordinates in Telecom Training Center.

    Transmission SDH Engineer

    Nepal Telecommunications Corporation, Nepal (SDH Optical Fiber, 2001-2004):
    Team leader of the entire project, coordinate with all levels of the staffs, assign their duties and responsibilities. Completely deserved in Installation, testing and commissioning of the SDH OMSN (Optical Multi Service Node) ALCATEL (STM-16, STM-4, STM-1) equipment. Prepare installation, testing and project completion reports, look after the maintenance work (in hardware and software levels with the help of craft terminal, NMS i.e. SH and RM) of the entire network which carries the 70% of the Kathmandu Valley traffic.

    Transmission Microwave Engineer

    Nepal Telecommunications Corporation, Nepal (1993-2000):
    Designing, surveying, installation, testing and commissioning, operation and maintenance of the spur and backbone links of telecommunications transmission network. Installed MATRS (Multi Access Radio Telephone System), NOKIA PDH 34Mbps 6Ghz, JRC 8,34Mbps 2Ghz and ALCATEL MELODIE 9420 LX RF Radio to promote rural telecom. To install backbone link, as an engineer totally involved in Installation, testing and commissioning of NERA 140Mbps, 16×2Mbps Radio equipment. The whole NERA system was monitored by SCADA system. Actively participated in Installation, testing and commissioning of NOKIA Digital multiplex i.e. DM-8, DM-34 and DM-140 equipment and NAPS (Neste Advanced Solar Power System) in remote areas. In 1997, went to India for installation, testing, commissioning of NERA 34 Mb/s radio and SCADA system in UP-WEST, HARYANA and KERALA (the link was back bone link for first mobile communication). Look after the whole maintenance work of NERA, NOKIA and NAPS system in Nepal with the help of SCADA.
